Private Investigator Confessions

The investigator was required to videotape a man to get the telling evidence that he needed in the fraud case. Some people saw him doing the video taping and didn't realize that he was a private investigator! They phoned the police who came and wanted to charge him with snooping and invasion of privacy.

This blew the cover of the P.I., who, while being led away, was heard to complain bitterly, 'I'm just doing my job here!' The man being spied on knew then to cover his tracks and to wipe away any residues of evidence, such as finger prints. The P.I. thought - quick thinking was required here. He needed to display his expertise to keep his client from being defrauded - and moreso, to protect his own ass in the process!

'Look over there!', the P.I. told the arresting officers. 'That man in the warehouse is getting away with a much bigger offense, a felony, right now. See he's hurrying to clear everything away so you don't notice?' The police officers looked then left the P.I. and quickly strode over to the man in the warehouse. He was wiping things down with a soft cloth.

The private investigator saw his opportunity to get away and sneaked down an adjacent lane then climbed some stairs to an upstairs room, all the while watching to see if he was safe. No one had seen his getaway. He stepped from the fire escape into the brick building and was never seen in that industrial estate again.

I confess. I left the police to a larger concern. A real matter requiring their attention. And they didn't even get my name, registered P.I. number or private investigator address. No evidence on me. But heck I'm not the criminal in this matter. I'm the hired private investigator working for a hush hush private client.

Police have to think quickly and always keep in communication with their radio base and senior controlling officer or they'll botch things up real fast if they don't collect evidence, names, addresses, registration numbers, and physical, measurable data to support their suspicions and their actions. Real, identifiable, evidential things are what work best in court.
